Kapono Design is a technical consulting company that builds and deploys custom technology solutions for clients across industries — content platforms, telemetry pipelines, and custom workplace tools that people use every day and genuinely depend on. We pair senior consulting judgment with engineers who like building things, which shows up as software that’s precise, well-built, and a little fun to use.

Content management systems

Their WordPress site was slow, bloated with plugins nobody remembered installing, and built on a page builder that fought them every time they wanted to change something. We rebuilt it in clean, native Gutenberg blocks — no page builder, modern image formats, and a plugin list cut down to what the site actually needs. Load time dropped 25%.

The bigger fix was underneath the page. We connected the site directly into their CRM, and once the data started flowing, it surfaced something nobody could see before: leads were quietly landing in the wrong inbox, with no tracking at all, and sales staff were spending most of their time re-engaging old customers instead of chasing new, higher-value leads. Once that pipeline was visible and correct, conversions went up — because the team could finally see where to spend their time.

Telemetry solutions

Bay Kinetic needed reliable data out of weighing devices sitting in rural cultivation, manufacturing, and distribution facilities — and they needed information back to the operators standing at those devices, in a form the operators could actually use. We built a Laravel backend on AWS paired with custom Python software running on Raspberry Pi units, wired into custom add-on boards that talk directly to the weighing hardware.

The devices prompt operators in their own native language, which cut incorrect data entry immediately. And because rural cellular service drops without warning, the system is built to handle that gracefully — it doesn’t lose data or leave an operator staring at a frozen screen when the connection blinks out.

Custom workplace information systems

Farmlane’s 24-person harvest staff kept grinding to a halt the same way, over and over: someone needed a specific person, didn’t know who to ask, and work stopped while they went looking. We provisioned a fleet of iPads through Apple Business Manager and Mobile Device Manager, locked down to nothing but the company ERP — no open web, no distractions.

Each device identifies its assigned role, not its assigned person, when it posts into the team’s WhatsApp chat — so anyone reading the thread instantly knows which role sent the request, and staff can be reassigned across roles without anyone losing track of who’s covering what.
